Technical Engineer / Assistant Technical Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review existing cable specifications for validity against the latest national / international/ company standards
  • Maintain the cable builder system with the standard requirements:
    – Update the existing cable specifications to ensure its validity
    – Create cable technical data sheet and product code for new product
    – Verify the materials quantity and man-hours against design
    – Conduct new process / product feasibility study and make recommendations
  • Design cable in accordance with national/ international/ company standards based on sales enquiry and new product range
  • Perform cost calculation for new cables and cost reduction for existing cables respectively.
  • Perform contract review to fulfil customer requirements
  • Provide internal and external technical supports which involve
    – resolving products / technical issues to meet customers’ need
    – calculating current carrying capacities according to latest national / international/ company standard
    – performing site visits to response to customer/sales feedback
    – participating in exhibition locally and overseas, technical-sales activities and seminar
    – participating in other matters such as query, data sheet generation, catalogue updating and verification
    – assisting in carrying QC activities and providing technical advice/guidance to the maintenance teams
  • Involve in improvement activities with relevant departments related to raw materials, manufacturing, machinery and processes
  • Develop and review work instructions for manufacturing processes and machine operations

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable or Proficiency in computer applications software, Engineering background and analytical skills & Cable builder, CMMS, CAD, PMS and ERP
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant Technical Engineering.
  • Knowledge in business processes and controls in manufacturing, supply-chain and/or service industries
  • Experience in internal stakeholder engagement, including conducting user interviews, requirements gathering and internal training
  • Work well in an agile project team and in an iterative approach, driven by stakeholder feedback and data insights
  • Strong communication, organisational and documentation skills
  • Willing to travel to various entities at different locations within the Group of Companies if required
